Building a Love of Life-Long Learning
Baker Educational Resources
I am a family and parent educator, lecturer, researcher and writer, an extroverted introvert on a path to discovery, compelled to share this life journey with those in inquiry on their own life path, whether that be as a husband or wife, a father or mother, a student, a son or daughter, or those in professional interactions or on spiritual quests. My family consulting and advising practice is intended to empower people to empower themselves to live more meaningful lives, and to identify patterns of behavior and thoughts that interact positively or negatively with others within the dynamic.
My professional life has its own type of webbed system: from communications and marketing to educator, writer, researcher, and parenting and relational advisor. My current academic work is a "marriage" of each of these previous professional cloaks, as I embark on clinical research regarding Family & Family Systems, Identity Formation, and Stress & Trauma. I am one-half of Baker Educational Resources, providing one-on-one tutoring, test preparation, and learning assessment with long-time business partner and science educator, Hayley Ruhnka.
My interests are in gardening, supporting healthy family systems, writing, and gardening. My online magazine, The Good Women Projects, is in formation and will invite dialogue in social science topics such as Identity, Family Sociology, Constitutional Law & Ethics, Philosophy & Religion, Body Politic, Economics & Geography, the question of what it means to really be in the world, co-existing with the world and all aspects of it.
Currently in formation is a series of lectures on my research into Trauma and Identity Formation, as well as my work on how trauma shapes boys in particular, and outcomes for boys with adverse childhood and adolescent conditions in adulthood. What we are able to understand and name becomes a pathway for healing and rectifying former chosen routes of thoughts and behavior. It is with this in mind that my practice and my lecture series launch will also lead to retreats around the world on different healing and personal empowerment themes for like-minded and like-hearted people.
I graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor’s in Integrated Social Sciences, and am currently in the Behavioral Economics Master’s program at The Chicago School of Psychology, and co-parent three wonderful and very individual children.
